19 July 2017: Alghanim Industries, one of the largest private companies in the region, sponsored the annual NUKS-USA’s orientation event, which took place at the Kuwait International fairgrounds in Mishref on Monday 17 July, 2017. Over 1,350 students, who will fly to the United States this fall to begin their college studies, were in attendance. The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al-Fares, Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Kuwait and attended by the Ambassador of the United States of America to the State of Kuwait, H.E. Lawrence Silverman, as well as representatives from Alghanim Industries.
This sponsorship is part of Alghanim Industries commitment in supporting the National Union of Kuwaiti Students (NUKS) USA branch for the academic year 2017/18.
Speaking to the attendees, H.E. Ambassador Lawrence Silverman said: “If I had one message, it is one my parents gave me when I went off to university, and one that I passed to my children as they began their higher education: Your success is exactly that – yours. You will succeed in the United States because you went to class, you studied hard, and you remained a student in good standing, all while enjoying everything that American college life has to offer. This year, almost 1,500 Kuwaiti students have chosen to study in the United States. Enabled by the generous support of the Kuwaiti government, more students choose to study in the United States than in any other country. Let me reiterate that the United States welcomes students from Kuwait and want to see more of you studying in the U.S.”
